with eyes open wide
A few weeks ago, Miriam Bienstock passed away at the age of 92. Bienstock was a powerful business leader of Atlantic Records from 1947 to 1964, at a time when there were very few women in the music-producing industry.
“Ms. Bienstock earned a reputation not only for toughness — her son, Robert, acknowledged in a eulogy for his mother that many of the businessmen she dealt with called her “Dragon Lady” — but also for efficiency and for the kind of shrewd rule-skirting that the record business of the day required.” (NY Times)
Remembering strong women who led the way for the rest of us. Thank you, Miriam!
