Check this out: The Price of Modernization in Panama

This is a topic that hits home for me personally, although issues like this are happening all around the globe and we simply never hear about them.

What a struggle modern society has gotten to! I wish that we could all live in peace on this huge and abundant Earth, but sadly it’s not as huge and abundant anymore. Everyone wants to lay their claim, exercise their control, grow in greed. And with the weapons we have produced nowadays, who’s to stop these forces?

I think it sounds fine to say, “We need the electricity TODAY! Do it!”

But for those who are wise enough to think of the future, even 20, 50, 75 years down the road, you can’t be so naïve to think that projects like this will not cause irreversible damage to lands, animal and human habitats, ecosystems, and cultures.
