Check this out: CityStudio in Vancouver

Vancouver seems like a pretty cool city. I am really impressed by this initiative started by the local government, CityStudio. It’s an opportunity for university students to work with government employees, university staff and community members to propose projects and see the best ones through to implementation.

Sure, this is great for urban design students and civil engineers, but CityStudio doesn’t focus on just these people. They encourage anyone who is interested in bettering the city to apply to their program. And THIS is why I think this program is awesome.

We ALL need to be more active in our communities (me included!). They should be places where we work together to change and adapt through the generations, each generation playing their part. Leaving these decisions and the work to a few dedicated individuals really is embarrassing to the human race.
