with eyes open wide
Meet Rocky! (sorry for the crappy photo)
He’s our 3.5 month old Siberian Husky, which we got on Monday. 🙂
As promised, the mix this week is much more varied!
Economy and Crime Spur New Puerto Rican Exodus (NY Times) – Puerco Rico doesn’t make the international news all that often and maybe it’s because they’ve been keeping their problems under wrap. This article is from February, but it gives a good overview of the current desperate status of Puerto Rico.
Raw Milk Vending Machines Take Over Europe (Modern Farmer) – Am I the last person to hear about this? This blew my mind! It’s really amazing how different the U.S. and Europe feel about raw milk.
A Solution for Bad Teaching (NY Times) – Adam Grant’s article seems like a no-brainer to me. Why do we tenure university researchers who suck at teaching? Adam’s solution is great and would be a win for universities, researchers/professors AND university students.
Never Forget: Visiting the Rwanda Genocide Memorial in Kigali (Helen in Wonderlust) – Let’s get real. It’s been 20 years since the genocide in Rwanda took around 800,000 lives. We can never forget this atrocity.
A Loyal Soldier Doesn’t Deserve This (NY Times) – I really hate how stubborn the US Military is. They live a century ahead in technology and a century behind in human rights. Post Traumatic Stress Disorder is a REAL thing. Stand up like a man and help out your fellow brother or sister AFTER the war, as you would have done during the war.
This video is AWESOME. What a fun project… I just wish they did the frames for longer than just 1 second each…
