Check this out: “My Brother’s Keeper” Initiative

It’s interesting to think of the legacy a President is leaving, while they are still in office. Of course they get bashed and praised after everything is said and done, but I like to step back in the middle of the process and look at the big picture.

If there is one thing that Barack Obama has done well, it is reaching out to change our hearts. The opposition sure resists, but really, how can you argue against an initiative like “My Brother’s Keeper”?

Obama announced, on February 27th, this new program to address at-risk young men. We need fathers who bear the fatherly role amidst all of the baggage that they carry. These fathers will help raise strong and responsible women and men, to begin a new generation of building up and moving forward rather than continuing the cycle of “facilitating the breaking and balking at the cost and commitment of the repair.” (Charles M. Blow, taken from the linked article below)

We need to come together as a nation to help boys and men realize their potential. Thank you, Obama, for pushing this initiative which we have been blind to for way too long.
