Check this out: The Stigma of Prostitutes

This is another reminder of modern-day slavery happening all over the world. “Sex-trafficking” is a fancy word for pimped prostitution. The majority of prostitutes are not in that business because they want to be. Most are forced to start at a young age and become the property of a pimp, who controls them and everything they do.

Most of these enslaved women just need someone to walk with them as they seek help. First they have to escape from their pimp to a secure location. Then they typically have to go through an addictions rehabilitation. Finally they need help finding a safe place to live and a secure job, and/or to continue/finish their schooling.

There are many organizations in cities all over the U.S. If this story speaks to your heart, I highly encourage you to look up your local organization and get involved, or consider starting your own initiative to help these women lead a productive life and in turn, mother healthy children.
