Check this out: Private Foundation in Canada to Build a National Seed Bank

Canada would be an awesome place to live… if it weren’t so damn cold.

Regardless, the very wealthy Weston family has started an initiative to build seed banks available for farmers all over Canada. Having a local seed bank with multiple varieties of crops is critical, especially in a harsh environment like Canada. Farmers are currently purchasing foreign seeds from the United States and Europe, but often these varieties are not adapted for environments like Canada.

It’s great to hear that Canada is planning for their agriculture future. Let’s hope other countries follow suit.
